It has been over three years since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, and during this time, the country has returned to its darkest days. One of the greatest tragedies has been the complete exclusion of women and girls from public life. The Taliban, by closing schools and universities to girls, have deprived them of the fundamental right to education.

Today, women and girls in Afghanistan are not only suffering from the denial of education and employment but are also under severe poverty and hunger. The Taliban’s extreme religious policies and ruthless bans have eliminated the opportunity for many girls to learn. While the country’s future is at risk, thousands of young girls have been forced into child marriages, and many women have lost their lives due to violence and sexual assault.

Yet hope remains. Our goal in establishing this “online school” is to provide Afghan girls with the opportunity to learn English. Mastery of this language will enable them to access scholarships from universities and institutions worldwide, helping them build a brighter and more hopeful future for themselves.
